Wilkinson, Charles Tannahill - 89, Passed away peacefully January 19, 2010 at the Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro, N.S. Born in Halifax, he was the second child of the late John and Plessa (Myers) Wilkinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Norine Elizabeth (McCready) Wilkinson, and his sons Charles (Rose) Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Terry (Judy), Dieppe, N.B.; and Roy (Trish) Timberlea, N.S. He will be forever remembered as "the coolest grandfather ever" by Chris, Jeff, Shawn, Michael, Jody, Scott, Ian, Lauren and Emily. He is also survived by his sister Nan Hattie (a gift on his 5th birthday), Churchville, N.S. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Remembered fondly by sister-in-law Sandy Kyte and brother-in-law Murray and wife Doris. He was predeceased by brother, Jack. Charlie served with the 1st Battalion "C" Company, Royal Canadian Engineers during WWII and had a long career with Canada Post retiring in 1981 after more than 36 years. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed his neighbours and community of Truro for more than 50 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a lover of music and enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet. He was a life long avid stamp collector. He was a member and supporter of the First United Church, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 and the Truro Philatelic Society. Cremation has taken place and services will commence Friday, January 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Colchester Community Funeral Home with Royal Canadian Legion service followed by a Memorial service and reception hosted by family. Committal service will take place in the spring. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation or charity of choice.
