BLANCHARD, Maurice Lucien – 78, High Street, Yarmouth, formerly of Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Villa St-Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 7, 1935 in Quinan, he was a son of the late Remi and Esther (Morris) Blanchard. Maurice made his living as a mechanic, a carpenter and a plumber, and he loved to tinker, but aside from his love of family, his true passion in life was the fact that he loved to help others. He will certainly be remembered as a man who was always there to help anyone in his beloved community of Quinan. For his hard work and tireless devotion, he was recognized by the Municipality of Argyle with a Community Volunteer Award. He was a man of great faith, and was a member of Saint Agnes Parish, Quinan. Maurice leaves behind his loving children, Doug (Jan) Blanchard, Springhaven; Faye (Keith) Doucet, Tusket; Donna (Ken) Crane, Tusket; Clinton (Tina) Blanchard, Quinan; Karen (Raymond) Jacquard, Yarmouth, as well as ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Nelson (Gina) Blanchard, Quinan, and sisters, Loretta Muise, Quinan; Jeanette Mychailuk, Ontario; Celeste Blanchard, Yarmouth. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Agnes (Carron) Blanchard, as well as by a sister, Loretta, in infancy, and brothers, Edward, Phillip, Ambroise and Raymond. Visitation took place from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday at H. M. Huskilson Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 4 at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
