It is with happy tears that we announce the reunion of our father with our mother on Feb. 1, 2013.
Thomas Kelson, 87 of South Harbour, passed away peacefully at Highland Manor, Neil’s Harbour.
He was the son of the late Ambrose and Mary (Daisley) Dixon. He was a life-time member of St Joseph’s parish, Dingwall. Thomas was a fisherman for the biggest part of his life and in later years he worked for the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board.
Thomas is survived by his children, Evelyn Dixon, Leonard (Irene) Dixon, Deborah (Melvin) Burton, Calvin (Karen) Dixon, Jean (Lawrence) Walsh, Nina (Richard) Connors; grandson, James (Cheryl) Dixon; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Dad was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Evangeline, brother, John Clayton, and sisters, Katherine Fitzgerald, Dora Petrie, Geneva Petrie, Rachael MacKinnon and Hattie Daisley.
Known to Highland Manor staff as “Dad” he will be sadly missed for his great sense of humour. For all the pranks and jokes he played on them during his final six wonderful years of his life. Thanks staff for the warmth and fond memories.
Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff at Highland Manor, Palliative Care Unit and Buchanan Memorial Hospital, doctors and staff. Special thanks to Dr. Ken Murray for his endless hours of continuing care throughout dad’s life.
Visitation for the late Thomas Kelson Dixon will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 both in St. Joseph’s Church, Dingwall, Fr. Ajit officiating. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dingwall.
Donations in Dad’s memory may be made to the Highland Manor or the Palliative Care Unit at Buchanan Memorial Hospital.
