Passed peacefully away on Thursday, January 31st, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by parents: Nimshi and Hilda (Tilley); first wife Elizabeth (Paddon) and survived by wife Ruth (Russell); sisters: Catherine (Del) Miller, Margaret (John) Small, Ruth (David) Brough; and brother George (Phyllis); son Richard (Edwina) and daughter Liz (Alister) Prout; brother-in-law Paul (Pat) Russell; sister-in- law June Russell (Roy deceased); stepchildren: Paul, Erica, Matthew and Andrew Mahon; two granddaughters: Kirsten and Jennifer (Prout); as well as numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Dick, as he was known by his friends, spent his working life in the fish business and was integral in establishing key markets for salt fish products. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. His work brought him to many places but he always looked forward to coming home to Newfoundland. Funeral service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral on Wednesday, February 6th at 2:30 p.m. with a reception to follow downstairs in the crypt. Special thanks to family Drs.
