It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother and friend, Rose Rigby of 2876 Hinchey Ave., New Waterford, on Jan. 21, 2010, at home.
Born in Dominion, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Catherine (MacNeil) Boudreau of Dominion, N.S.
Rose was a member of the Parish Church of St. Leonard and was, several years ago, employed at the GI plant in Sydney.
Ma was a sweet and quiet person who loved life to the fullest. Her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid bingo player and at one time an avid card player who enjoyed playing every Wednesday night where she made many friends. Also, in earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and was a member of a ladies league in town.
Rose also loved to knit and crochet many things for her family which they will always cherish. A moment she always looked forward to in the spring was her first robin.
She leaves behind to mourn, her children, Lucille (John) McGillivary, Kitty, Tommy, Joanne (Melvin) Anderson, Vickie (Brian) Gouthro, all of New Waterford, David (Leila), Vancouver, Peter (Janey Lou), Berwick, N.S.; sister-in-law Vie Boudreau, Dominion; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Yolanda, Rosa, Noelle, Nicky, Johnny, Matthew, Shaunna, Zachary; great-grandchildren, Sara-Kate, Alex, Tori, Lachlyne, Andi, Joneil, Noah, Layne and Madden. V
She was predeceased by her husband Alex Rigby; three brothers, John Dixon, Fred Boudreau and Harry Boudreau and two sisters, Mary ‘Mayme’ Andrews and Josie Fortune.
Rose was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Rose will be held Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. A luncheon with follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in New Waterford. All are welcome. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
