Donald St. Onge
ST. ONGE, DONALD WILFRID – Donald St. Onge of Rothesay, NB husband of 54 years to Betty (Gillard) St. Onge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 2, 2013 in his 79th year. Don is survived by his children Ronald (Rita) St. Onge, Susan MacPhee, Pamela St. Onge and Michelle (Louis) Ouellette and grandchildren Phil, Tiffany, Lindsay, Ronnie, Josh, Tanya, Chloe, Ben, Mathieu and Maxim as well as 5 great-grandchildren. Born in Edmundston, NB, he was the son of Wilfrid and Marie (Couturier) St. Onge. He was predeceased by his parents and nine siblings and was survived by four siblings Lillian, Louis, Robert and Gaetane. Don moved to Saint John at the age of 18 and began working at East Saint John Hospital, where he and Betty met in 1954. He started working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Stores, in 1973. Known to many as “Donnie,” he worked there for 34 years before retiring in 1997. Don was a loyal husband and hardworker who, throughout his life, loved fishing, country music and was a die-hard Habs fan. He loved his pets and will be especially missed by Nikki and Cleo. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the excellent care Don received while in CCU at SJRH, but especially the compassion shown in his last days by the staff of 3DS. Betty wishes to express her greatest appreciation to “angels” Angela and Ashley. Their gentleness and genuine concern for Don and his family in his final hours will be forever remembered.
