Chestnut, Agnes Ruth – 86, Truro, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2010 in Wynn Park Villa, with family members at her side. Born on June 21, 1923 in Boston, Mass., Agnes was a daughter of the late Henry and Ruth Cole of Tatamagouche. Agnes spent her adult years as a very busy mother of ten children. She also enjoyed being grammie to her many grand and great-grandchildren. She loved celebrating all the events, both big and small in her large families lives. She eagerly awaited each new addition to her ever-increasing family. She spent the last few years in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, and Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Here she was treated with respect and kindness by the many caring staff members. Agnes is survived by nine children, Arnold (Sally), Kingston, Ontario; Ruth Pearston (Lloyd); Judy Prodger; Arthur; George (Bev); Margaret Ann Dauphinee (Andy); Elizabeth Glass (Warren); Richard (Geraldine); Mable-Lynn Dickson (Ernie); all of Truro and surrounding areas; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by sister Jennie Cole-Perkins and nephew Lawrence Cole; several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer; son, Robert; sister, Helen Ramsay. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Tuesday, January 26th, with funeral service on Wednesday, January 27th at 2pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, with Rev. David Lutes officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre, Halifax, or to a charity of choice.
