Lorne Christopher ‘Chris’ Lockhart, 52, of Kentville, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Grostenquin, France, he was a son of Carol (Spence), Kentville, and the late Lorne Lockhart.
He had been employed as a mail carrier with Canada Post, Kentville and was a devote Detroit Red Wings fan. In addition to hockey, he enjoyed baseball, boating and golf. Together with his late father, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent summers and most of the fall at the trailer in Lake Ainslie and enjoyed playing tarabish with his New Waterford friends and will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends in Cape Breton.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rhona McMaster; a son, Trevor (Rachele), Winnipeg; three stepchildren, Paul Drysdale, Kentville, Nelson (Darlene) Drysdale, Edmonton, Dena Drysdale, Moncton; three brothers, Jim (Angela), Fort Smith, Paul (Val), Timberlea, Jason (Kelly), Lower Sackville; paternal grandmother, Nellie Lockhart, Amherst; two grandchildren, Piper and Hunter; nieces and nephews. He will be fondly missed and lovingly remembered by his dog, Oscar, who was also the unofficial mascot for the post office.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service and reception at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
