Hull, James Neilson, “Jim”, 94, of Truro, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he was a son of the late Thomas and Annie (Neilson) Hull. Jim served overseas from 1941-1946 in England, Italy and North West Europe with the Canadian Provost Corp. Jim retired in 1979 after 35 years of service with Canada Post. He was a 55-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 26, Truro and served as an Elder in Brunswick Street United Church, Truro. Jim was a member of the Scottish Society; He sang with the Legion Lyrics in 2007 and was a member of the Good Times Seniors Club and a member of the Veterans Widows and Widowers Association. He loved to bowl, dance, travel and play the violin.
He is survived by sons; David (Kathy), Rick (Ruth); grandchildren Katelyn and Matthew; sisters, Catherine Jeffers, Anna Kirk.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Beulah Mattinson; brothers Bill and Tom.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 pm Friday, Jan.29th where the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, will conduct a Legion tribute service at 7 p.m. The funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday Jan.30th, all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Rev. David Lutes will officiate with burial to take place at a later date in Watson Cemetery, Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Brunswick Street united Church, Royal Canadian Legion Br. 26, Colchester Legion Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
