O’BRIEN, ERNEST ANTHONY - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ernest Anthony O’Brien of Quispamsis which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice with family by his side on Saturday, February 9th, 2013. Born January of 1939, in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Harold and Catherine O’Brien. Ernest worked for Marine Atlantic for 23 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #6581 and a faithful parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Ernest is survived by his loving wife Hilda (Vienneau); stepchildren Brenda Goguen (Richard) of Miramichi, Francine Easton (Gary Hosford) of Quispamsis and Rick McDonald (José) of Saint John; brother Frank (Marilyn) of Saint John; sister Joanne Barrett of Saint John, Marion MacLean (Donald) of Saint John, Marie Holden (Bill) of Ajax, ON, Peggy O’Brien of Saint John; sisters-in-law Gisele O’Brien of Capreol, ON, Helen Blacquier of South Nelson, NB; seven step-grandchildren; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Ernest was predeceased by his first wife Rose-Alice; brothers Donald and William; sisters Irene Mulle and Doreen O’Brien and brothers-in-law Bob Barrett and Emile Vienneau.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, February 12th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 13th from 2 to 4 and 7to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 135 Simpson Drive on Thursday, February 14th at 10 a.m. Interment to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
