WORTMAN, LAURIE A. - Laurie A. Wortman, 87, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, February 11, 2013. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Harold and Eva (Leger) Wortman. A retired Air Traffic Controller, Laurie was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the Royal Canadian Navy and was a life member of Sunny Brae Legion Branch No. 54. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage (Richibucto), but first and foremost was time spent with his family and friends. Laurie will be sadly missed by his son, Laurie of Moncton; daughters, Sherry Lewis (Wayne) of Second North River, Ginny Langis (Roland) of Moncton and Leigh-Ann Wortman (Marc Belliveau) of Montreal, PQ; grandchildren, Christopher (Chrysa), Michael, Jill (Caley), Shelby and Maya; great grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Chloe, Haiden and Ethan; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Laurie was predeceased by his wife, Shirley B. (MacCallum) Wortman (May 2009); brothers, Kenneth and Curtis. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Sunny Brae Legion Branch #54 Memorial Service on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery in the spring.
