MARK E.A. McLEAN
February 20, 1961 ~ February 5, 2013
It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Mark E.A. McLean. First born to Helen and Arn in Brampton, Ontario on February 20, 1961. The family moved to New Jersey then onwards to California. After graduating from High School, Mark joined the US Army as a paratrooper. After discharging he enrolled in the University of Guelph and studied fisheries biology. He then travelled to British Columbia and was employed on a start-up salmon farm on Jervis Inlet. It was in Jervis Inlet where he met his wife Erika. Mark had many interests, learning about space and string theory, growing giant pumpkins, coaching his children’s sports teams, and travelling. It was while vacationing in his favourite place, Kauai, Hawaii, that Mark passed on February 5, 2013. He is survived by his wife Erika, his children Matthew, Cameron and Emma, and his siblings Gary (Kerry), Jeff (Patty), Julie (Ben), Brett, Doug and Jan. Family of Sharry, Rupert, Sybil, Vern (Mei-Ying), Leif (Sanne), the team at All for Pets, and many more family and friends.
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.
Mark’s service will be on Saturday, February 16, at 2 pm at St. Hilda’s Anglican Church. If desired, please direct donations to the Sunshine Coast Salmonid Society, the Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue - Station 12, or a charity of your choice.
