OGBURN, MICHAEL LYNDON - (January 27, 1943 - February 14, 2013) - Beloved husband of Pam for nearly 50 years, dearest father of Phillip and his wife Laura (Houston, TX). Dear and devoted grandfather of Christian (Jasper, AB) and Jordan Ogburn and Keith Picco (Riverview, NB). Loving uncle of John Coles and his wife Ellen (Orillia), David Coles and his wife Somaya and their family (Toronto), Peter Coles and wife Christine and their family (Toronto). Loved and sadly missed by Brenda and Fred Picco (Riverview, NB). Mike immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1954 and settled in Don Mills. Mike and Pam met in high school where he was a competitive swimmer. They began married life at the tender ages of 19 and 21. Mike's business travels took the family across Canada and back again to live in various cities, making dear and lasting friends in each one. Beautiful Crowe Lake, where they spent many happy years growing up and vacationing, became their home in 2009. Mike passed away in his home on Crowe Lake, as he had wished, knowing that his family and loving, longtime friends in the lake community and in other cities held him in their prayers. His family extends love and deepest appreciation to each of you who walked by his and Pam's sides throughout his illness. Mike was a gifted artist and accomplished business person but his greatest gift was his loving and kind nature, his devotion to all his family and a wonderful dry sense of humour. He faced his final journey with great courage and much of that humour. Mike's family extends warmest thanks to Dr. Melissa Holowaty (Marmora Medical Centre) and to Dr. Chris Parker, Dr. Ingrid Harle and Elizabeth Hill RN (Kingston General Hospital) for their warm compassion in helping to make his illness bearable and for their support for Pam. Thanks also to several RNs from Bayshore Medical, especially Krista and Pat. Their gentle efficiency were an enormous support. Warmest thanks to Rev. Janet Weller (St. Paul's Anglican Church, Marmora) and her husband Martyn who have kept us in their prayers throughout and were here with us in Mike's final moments.
Donations to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Marmora, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of your choice in Mike's memory will be greatly appreciated. Visiting with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 17 at the McConnell Funeral Home, 9 Bursthall St., Marmora.
