John "Scotty" McIntyre
McINTYRE, JOHN MITCHELL “SCOTTY” - Peacefully, with his family at his bedside at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on the 16th day of February, 2013 John Mitchell “Scotty” McIntyre of Fairvale, NB died at 98 years of age. He was born at Alloa, Scotland in 1914 and was the last remaining member of his family. John sailed to Canada as a Dr. Cossar Farm Boy in 1928 and worked in Gagetown, at the Wetmore farm in Clifton Royal and eventually with his permanent family, Helen and Harry Polley at the Headline, Queens County. John was employed for 39 years at the Saint John Dry Dock. He was well-known as a volunteer in the village of Fairvale and was presented with a lifetime membership in the Outing Association. He married the love of his life, Jean Evelyn Murphy in 1946. She predeceased him in 2006. He is survived by his five children, Bronwyn (Gregory), Elizabeth (Richard), James (Wendy), Stephen (Amanda), and Andrea (Patrick), his twelve grandchildren, Trevor (Riann), Andrew (Efrat), Jessica (Shawn), John (Jackie), Sean, Graham, Simon (Sara), Zachary, Allison, Bryanna, Grant and Ross and his four great-grandchildren, Noori, Claire, Rami and Eli. The family thanks his housekeeper, Jackie Ouellette, for ten years of dedication and care, and his long-time neighbours, Robert and Betty Mullett and Larry McGivern, for all their kind assistance.
Visitation will take place at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John on Tuesday, February 19th from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place at Fundy Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 20th at 10 a.m. A private interment will be held later.
