It is with heavy hearts, that we the family of Carmella White, announce her passing Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay on Nov. 13, 1935, Carmella was the youngest daughter of the late William and Mary Jane (Kennedy) Brown.
Mom will be remembered for the love of her children and grandchildren and the kindness she had for everyone around her. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home.
Carmella was always a very hard worker and helped her husband, Melvin open their family business and worked side-by-side with him and their children. There was never a task too hard or a problem that she could not handle. Her strong faith and love helped her conquer everything that came her way.
Carmella is survived by her children, Bill (Joann), Shannon, Darin (Darlene), Krista (Jeff MacLean), Dale (Jennifer), all of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Aaron, Korri, Taylor, Devon, Kaelyn, Ryan, Jillian and Tara. Also surviving are Carmella’s sister, Chrissie Phalen (Gerard); brother, Sheldon (June) and special niece, Wilma Boutilier (late Wilfred ‘Boots’); sister-in-law, Marion ‘Sis’ Gallant and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Carmella was predeceased by her husband, Melvin and son, Cordell, brothers, Buster, John, Pat, Mannie, Frank, Allister, Roy and a sister, Helen.
Visitation will take place Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass is Wednesday at 12 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Reception in the church hall. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Crossing.
As an expression of sympathy for Carmella, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s/ Dementia Foundation.
