Muriel Emmaline Murray
Murray, Muriel Emmaline, age 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 15th at Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born in Kemptown, she was the second eldest daughter of the late William and Susan (McCabe) Hingley. Muriel worked at Lewis Hat Factory after graduating high school and at various retail stores in Truro. She was a member of Onslow United Church where she taught Sunday School and was a Life Member of the UCW. Muriel enjoyed walking, camping, fishing, travelling, gardening, birds and animals, time with family and friends and, especially, dancing. She is survived by daughters Joanne (Glenn) MacIntosh and Glenda (Grant) MacDonald; grandchildren Jodi (Chris) Graham, Kelly (Robb) MacIntosh-Scott, Rob (Sara) MacIntosh, Aaron MacDonald and great-grandchildren Brooke, Johnathan, Owen, Maia, Ella, Griffin, Turner and Alex. She is also survived by seven brothers, Laurie (Carol), Robert (Pat), Flemming (Grace), Ronald (Wilma), Preston (June), Earl (Ethel), Ernest (Sylvia) and three sisters, Norma Green, Maxine (Charles) Shearer, Aileen Gaudet (Doug Cox), and brother-in-law Ron Read and many, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Fred, infant son Glen, brothers Russel & Parker, sisters Marjorie, Anne & Bertha, brothers-in-law Everett Marble, Paul Green, Gerald Gaudet, Arnold Baird and Cliff Bonnyman and sisters-in-law Helen Bernard, Gwen O’Toole, Carol Bryson and Phyllis McNutt. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff (friends) of Vimy Court where Muriel spent the last year and a half of her life enjoying the many activities and music events. Muriel is resting at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, where visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 19th from 7 – 9 pm. Funeral to be held on Wednesday, February 20th at 2 pm at St. David’s United Church, Pictou Road, Bible Hill with Rev. Donna Lawrence officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Muriel loved flowers and her daughters would love to see them at her funeral, however, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Golden Retriever Rescue or a charity of your choice.
