Mike Mahoney

Peter Michael “Mike” Mahoney, 64, of Loch Broom, Pictou County, died February 15, 2013 at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Ray and Marion (Campbell) Mahoney.
Mike was employed with numerous trucking companies most recently with Hillman’s Trucking up until his death. In between his trucking jobs he was employed at the former Trenton Works as a welder for some 10 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed fishing and trips to the Riverside Speedway where he enjoyed racing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, the former Marcia (Dunbar), Loch broom; a son Michael, Pugwash; a daughter Stacey (Chris), Pictou; a step-son Mark (Wendy), New Glasgow; three grandchildren Amber, Ashley and Bailey; two step-grandchildren Chad and Brendon, brothers, Ray (Marion), Pictou; Paul, Stellarton; Peter (Susan), New Glasgow; sisters: Marion (Lloyd) Kenny, Lorne; Elizabeth Fraser, Stellarton; Patti (Pat) Brophy, Stellarton; mother-in-law Janet Dunbar, Sylvester; numerous nieces and nephews, three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter Janet Lee, a brother Lyall, a brother-in-law Weldon Fraser and father-in-law Bill Dunbar.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Mike’s wishes there will be no visitation.
A memorial mass was held Monday, February 18, 2013 from Our lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Burial of ashes will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
