Gladys Hennigar

STELLARTON – Gladys Helen “Mum” Hennigar, 90, of Jubilee Avenue, Stellarton, passed away on Monday, February 18th, 2013 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
A lifelong resident of Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Elma (Cunningham) MacKenzie.
An avid curling fan, she was a former member and two time president of the Stellar Ladies Curling Club. Gladys was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #25 where she was past matron. She was a Charter member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
She is survived by her children: Bill (Barb) Hennigar, Stellarton; Scott (Marla) Hennigar, Kentville; Margie (Gary) Powers, Stewiacke East; Elizabeth Hennigar, Ottawa; Howie Hennigar, Churchville; Ted (Mary Lou) Hennigar, Fall River; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband of 56 years James L. Hennigar; brothers Art and Fred; sisters Ethel and Margaret.
Cremation has taken place.
In keeping with Gladys’s wishes there will be no funeral service.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton.
Spring internment will take place at a later date at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Lodge That Gives, South St., Halifax (through the Canadian Cancer Society).
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeans-Mingo, the Palliative Care Team of the Aberdeen Hospital and Pictou County VON for their care over the past months.
