CAROL LEE COVEY
August 18, 1955 - February 16, 2013
There is a new angel in the heavens today. Carol passed peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born in Vancouver and came to the coast in 1980.
Carol worked at St. Mary's Hospital for 30 years, her last years as Head of Finance. She is lovingly missed by her husband Rick, daughters Reagan, Lisa and Brandi and son Chris; also by Sister Luke (Denise Towne) (Matson), brother-in-law Gerry and nieces Carlye and Candice; sister Cheryl Matthews, niece Stephanie and nephew Michael; brothers Bruce and Robert (Diane) Curtiss, Stacey and Andrew; and a large extended family (Matsons, Van Joffs and Coveys).
Carol was exceptional and drew exceptional people to her. She enjoyed many pursuits....gardening, cooking, crib, camping, fishing, boating, Blue Jays baseball, the Mariner Moose, comedians…a terrific sense of humour, casinos and bingo. She also enjoyed a chilled glass of wine, or a nice dinner with family and friends. Other past-times included sitting around the campfire, the gun club (good shot), the Sparkle Lounge, Argo Bush, Keremios with Fern and Norm Nelson, travel (her favorites being Mesa), Turtle Lake with Mike and Linda, Karshner Caves with Ken and Marilyn Bossert, and Covey's Cove (sorry Colleen) in Porpoise Bay.
We are forever grateful to Dr. Sara Wadge, Dr. Ed Berinstein, Dr. Lim, Vivian Alie, Dr. Renouf and Susan D'aloisio for their guidance through this difficult time. We thank our caring and professional nurses and coworkers: Karen Knight, Linda Warren, Brenda Gray, Anne Beardsal and many others whose names escape us now.
A very special thank you to Carol's friends: Shelley (you're not the boss of me) and Gillian Macaully, Jacquie Lizee, Karen (matey) Inkpen, Horseshoe Karen Scott, Fashion Karen Tosczak, Francois, Laura and Selene Lincoln, April and Tor Skei, Joe and Patt Dougherty, Larry and Wendy Ennis, Ruth and Eric Breu, Tracy and Brian Macintosh, Sue and Jim Brown, and all Carol's co-workers and friends who shared in her ordeal. We will miss her goofy laughter, occasional "clipped voice" and joyful presence.
LOVE YOU BABE.
Carol requested no service. An informal Celebration of Life will take place in May, at which time we will share as many lies as possible.
