ROONEY, JOHN EDWARD - With sadness the family announces the passing of John Edward Rooney which occurred late Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on October 4, 1953, in Saint John, NB, he was the son of Dorothy (Hanson) Rooney Breen and the late Leonard Rooney. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved horse racing, hunting, fishing and hockey. In his earlier years he served in the Navy before working at the Dry Dock as a pipefitter. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #53 and is known for his sense of humour at downtown Tim Horton’s locations. John is survived by his beloved mother Dorothy; sons Christopher and Chad; brother Russell (Linda) Rooney of Quispamsis; sisters Elizabeth (Mark) Doyle and Brenda (Glenn) Hicks both of Fairfield, NB; nieces and nephews Trevor, Kelli, Brad, Erin, Andrew, Ashley and Ryan; great nieces and nephews Amelia, Reed and Jack.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior.
