Leonard "Buzz" Banks

BANKS, LEONARD “BUZZ” EARL - The passing of Earl “Buzz” Leonard Banks occurred February 20th, 2013 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 5, 1932 in Nashwaaksis, NB, he was a son of the late Leonard and Beulah (Merrithew) Banks. Earl was a retired Warrant Officer with thirty-five years’ service in the Canadian Air Force. Following his retirement he spent nine years as the Manager of the Maritime Club at Base Gagetown. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15 and Branch #4. “Buzz” grew up in Marysville where he played baseball and hockey. In later life, he was an avid golfer and curler and a past member of the Fredericton Curling Club. He hated to fly but loved to travel and his career in the Air Force took him far and wide. He is survived by his wife Betty Haines, and was predeceased by his first wife of forty-seven years, Mary Banks (Dempsey). He is also survived by his four children, Earle Banks of Grand Prairie, Alta., David Banks of Honolulu, Hawaii, Catherine Corriveau of Chelsea, Que., and Maureen Bilerman of Fredericton, NB; by sister Shirley (Lyons); by son-in-laws Paul Corriveau and Shawn Bilerman; by daughter-in-laws Sharon Banks (Hillier) and Sherry Banks (Valicenti); by stepsons Edward, Harry and Randy and their spouses; by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren from both marriages. He was predeceased by a son, Sean Michael Banks. Thank you to the medical team from the Chalmers Hospital who assisted with Earl’s end of life care, and to Dr. Kerr and his wonderful staff.
There will be no public service by request. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Bishop’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
