Pearl E. MacNabb (nee Roberts-Fanning)
Our girl Pearl has gone to be with family and old friends that she has not seen in a long time. We will miss her dearly.
Pearl was born on February 9, 1922, to Jim and Janie (Keizer) Roberts. By the age of three she had lost her mother and two brothers, Arthur and Rolly. At age 22 her husband Allan Fanning was killed in action in France. Sad but determined, she worked hard to build a home for her and her young daughter in Grand Tracadie. It was there she fell in love and married the fellow just over the hill, Jim MacNabb. Together they made our home a happy, lovely place to live.
Pearl was a fiercely protective, devoted wife and mother, and she loved us well. She was a loyal friend and neighbor and our home was often the hub of the community. She was a wonderful cook and more than a few cups of tea were had in her kitchen. She was a devoted Christian and was an elder in Pleasant Grove United Church, the same church she attended when she was a little girl living with her grandmother.
Those she leaves with a smile for having loved her and a tear for having lost her are husband Jim; children, Betty Watts, Carrie (Tim Banks), Roy (Brenda), Lionel (Connie McInnis), Cindy (Tony Arbing); 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Clarence (Joyce), the late Arlene (Joe) Kickham, Bob (Mary), the late Frank (Mickey), Bev (Chester) Culligan, the late George (Juanita), Carl (Marjorie), and the late Fred Roberts. Sister-in-law of the late Mary (Andy) Cannon, the late Francis, and the late Marion Hazelwood.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Donaldston Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Fund for Lay Education-York Covehead Pastoral Charge, or the Canadian Paraplegic Association.
