Elmer St. Claire Dearman, age 85, of Brooklyn, Hants County, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on July 13, 1927, in Brooklyn, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Isaiah and Alice (Brown) Dearman. Elmer was employed for over 30 years, at Fundy Gypsum Company, until he retired. He was a member of the Quarry Worker Union. He is survived by a brother, Ken (Barb) Redden, Brooklyn, and special friend, Tim Clarke, Meductic, NB. Besides his parents, Isaiah and Alice (Brown) Dearman; Elmer was predeceased by his sisters, Beulah Dearman and Della May Dearman; brother, Sherman Dearman. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Q.E. II, Halifax and the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, for the care shown to Elmer during his illness. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor (902-798-2232), and there was no visitation by request. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, Cemetery Road, St. Croix, Hants County. The Rev. Bill Gibson of the Windsor United Church, officiated. Donations in memory of Elmer were requested to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of one’s choice.
