Marion Bennett was born November 29, 1921 in Scarborough, Ontario.
After graduation from Scarborough Collegiate Institute, Marion was employed by Head Office, Crown Life Insurance Company in Toronto for five years. She then enlisted in the WRCNS and after training as a Wren Signalman, she was posted to Port Signal Office in Halifax. It was there that she met and married Bruce in the Dockyard Naval Chapel. After discharge they moved to Vancouver, then Burnaby, then Portland, Oregon, then Dawson Creek where they started a distributorship for Nalley's Potato Chips. After seven years they moved to Kamloops where Bruce was a realtor until sadly he passed away in 1973.
Marion became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1947 and was a Past Matron and Life Member of Adah Chapter #16 in Kamloops. She also served as a Grand Representative of Tennessee for two years.
Survived by two sons: Lance (Sue) of Campbell River and Craig (Julie) of Kamloops, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Marion enjoyed her membership with Mount Paul United Church, the United Church Women and her many friends in the congregation.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Mount Paul United Church, 140 Laburnum St, North Kamloops on Saturday, March 9th. at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. LeAnn Blackert officiating. Please note that Mount Paul is a scent free environment.
