Helen Louise Congdon

Congdon, Helen Louise, 96, of Truro, passed away on February 26 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, where she resided for a brief time. Born in South Branch on January 20, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Biney Teas. Helen was a member of First United Church, Truro. She enjoyed playing bridge and dancing. She worked at Brookfield Frozen Foods for a number of years. Due to ill health, Helen has been residing at Karlaine Place for the past few years, where she received excellent care. Helen was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by husband, John and sons Richard and Wayne, sisters Mary, Hazel, Flora , brothers Cecil, Austin and Gordon. She is survived by grandsons John (Nadine Lewis), Truro; Scott, Halifax; great grand-daughter Kate, Halifax; and daughter-in-law Karen, Truro; several nieces and nephews. Helen was a past member of the Yarmouth Golf and Curling Club, the Dartmouth Curling Club. She was also a member of the Truro First United Church Ladies Group, and a bridge club. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on March 6 at 1 pm with a memorial service immediately following at 2 pm, both at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury and Reverend David MacNaughton (ret) officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Interment will be in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village, in the Spring.
