It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Alice Billard, at the Northside Guest Home, Jan. 29, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Rose Blanche, N.L, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Miles) Best.
Mom was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, the LOBA, and LTBA as well as a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. Mom will always be remembered as a hard worker.
Mom is survived by her six children, Jerry (Carolyn), Sydney Mines, Jimmy (Maxine), Georges River, Marjorie (Jackie) Jardine, Georges River, Freddie (Heather), Sydney Mines, Shirley (Phillip) Jobes, Saskatchewan, Lucy Fennell, North Sydney; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters, Ruth (Peter) Pyke, Alice Piercey, Ontario; and by daughter- in- law, Joanne Billard, Florence.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Maxwell Billard, sons, Frank and Wilfred Billard, brother, Norman Best and her two sisters, Susie Kendall and Laura Porter.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev Carl Fraser officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations, in memory of Mom, may be made to the Northside Guest Home or a charity of ones choice.
