It is with great sadness that we, the family of the late George Stanley Ford announce his passing on Jan. 30, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Sydney, George was the son of the late George and Pearl (Robinson) Ford.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines. George’s greatest passion besides his family was being outdoors hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Tonya Marie (Targett) Ford; sons, Billy and John; daughters, Tanya (Jake) Rose and Samantha Ford (Grant Bonnar); grandchildren, Jakie Rose (Jessica Hoeg), Marcus Rose, Jena Donovan, Patrick MacCarthy and John Robinson; great-grandchild, Ava Jade Tighe; brothers, Jimmy, Gerald (Susan), Gordie (Lisa) and Billy (Wanda); sister, Patricia (Charlie) Taylor.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by one sister, Susan Devoe.
We the family would like to extend our appreciation and thanks for the VON and Palliative Care workers for taking such great care of our father and husband, George Ford.
Visitation for George Ford will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass celebrating his life will take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will follow in the Centennial Room of Immaculate Conception Church.
Donations in memory of George may be made to the VON or the Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
