Peacefully, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the early morning of March 6, 2013, of Winston Edwards Smith, age 79 years.
Eldest son of Hazel Smith, formerly of Pownal. Beloved husband of Janet Smith (MacRae); father of Cynthia Windsor (Andrew), Catherine Gendron (Frank), Kenneth (Patti), Irwin, Mary-Lynn, Susan Hancock (Glen) and Kelly. Left to mourn and lovingly remember Winston are his dear brothers and sister: James (Dale), Donald (Marge), David (Shirley), Marilyn Blanchard (David) and Ian (Lorna) Smith.
Predeceased by his father, Harold P.; brother, Ronald; and Belinda (mother of Kelly).
Fondly remembered by six great-grandchildren; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews on Prince Edward Island and across Canada.
Winston lived many years in Ottawa, ON, after his graduation from McGill University in Montreal and served with both the provincial and federal Departments of Agriculture. Upon Winston's return to Prince Edward Island, he fostered a great many new relationships in his work across the Island.
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Friday from St. Andrew's United Church, Vernon, at 2 p.m.

Visiting hours Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Mizpah Masonic Lodge will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m. All brethren are invited to attend.
