Sabine: Lennie Mae (Lewis), 92, of Wynn Park Villa, Truro, formerly of Southville, Digby Co., passed away in the Villa, Monday, March 4, 2013. Born on April 4, 1920, in Danvers, Digby Co., she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Fannie (Sabean) Lewis. Lennie was a wonderful homemaker and craftsperson. Many were recipents of her knitted items, cross stitch and quilts. She also exercised her gift of hospitality, enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing at Ken’s pond and playing dominoes. In the late 40’s and early 50’s Lennie worked as a cook in her husband’s lumber camp at New France, Digby Co. As a member of Havelock Wesleyan Church she taught Sunday School and was an active member of Wesleyan Women. Lennie is survived by son, Gordon (Sheila) Sabine, Belmont, Col. Co., grandchildren, Lorenda (Joe) Ebbett, Tatamagouche; Rev. Kirk (Virnna) Sabine, Sussex, NB; Leah (John) Pembridge, River John; great grandchildren, Alexander (Casey) Allen, Natasha (Kevin) Allen, Matthew Allen, Miles, Kendra and Abram Sabine; great-great grandson, Benjamin Allen; sisters, Doris MacFarlane, Beaverlodge, AB, Verna (Earl) Sabine, Riverdale, Digby Co., NS; brother, Kenneth (Amy) Lewis, South Range, Digby Co., NS. She was predeceased by husband, Edgar P. Sabine; son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Linda (Marshall) Sabine; three infant sons, two named: Wendell Ira and Kenneth Sellick; one infant daughter; sister Kathleen Lewis; ; brothers, Reginald, Harry, Glidden, Donald and Keith Lewis. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Thursday, March 7, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. A celebration of Lennie’s life will be held in the Havelock Wesleyan Church, Hassett, Digby Co., on Saturday, March 9, at 2pm with officients Rev. Kirk Sabine and Rev. Peter Hayes. Reception to follow at the church. Interment will be in the Southville Church of Christ Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Havelock Wesleyan Church, Southville Church of Christ Cemetery or Kingswood University, Sussex, NB.
