McQuinn, Percy Gordon- 84, of The Villa St. Joseph du Lac in Dayton, Yarmouth Co., and formerly of Argyle Head, went to rest after a short, but courageous battle with numerous health issues on March 4th, 2013. Born December 2, 1928, in Barrington he was the youngest son of Stanley and Clara (Anthony) McQuinn. Percy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family dearly. For forty plus years he drove "big rigs" and continued to dream about that "one last run". In his semi retirement he enjoyed his cattle, trapping, hunting, fishing and giving a helping hand to many. He was truly an outdoors-man and was most happy working and being in the woods. He also worked as a Fire Sub Ranger with the Department of Lands and Forests and a park attendant for the provincial park in Glenwood for 12 years. Percy was a member of the Fur Trappers Association of Nova Scotia, as well as a member of Cattle Men's Association of Nova Scotia. He is survived by children, Glenn (Nanci McQuinn), Halifax; Wanda McQuinn , Sackville; Bonnie McQuinn, Halifax; Paula McQuinn - d'Entremont, West Pubnico; Georgina "Gina" McQuinn- d'Entremont, Guysborough; grandchildren, Scott (Jill) McQuinn; Andrew (Lindsay) McQuinn; Logan d'Entremont; René and Eric d'Entremont; great grandchildren, Hallie and Ashlee McQuinn, Stirling and Ewen McQuinn. Besides his parents Percy is predeceased by his wife (His true love), Faye (Malone) and his brother Stuart. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home South Room. A funeral service was held Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D "Bill" Newell officiated. Interment will be a private graveside service in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Argyle Head where he will be laid to rest next to Faye who he has sadly missed for the last 22 years.
