Of Bradford and Sacred Hearts Parish, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, following a brief illness, surrounded by her immediate family on the eve of her 59th wedding anniversary to Raymond Oscar Newman. She was 85. Janie was born on May 24, 1923, on the Green Road at Bonshaw, P.E.I. She was the fourth of six children born to James Arthur and Mary (Nolan) Toole. She enjoyed the many summers spent vacationing with the family on P.E.I. In addition to her husband, Raymond, Mrs. Newman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Haverhill Police Officer Lawrence R. Newman and his wife, Jean Kuo of Ayers Village; daughters and sons-in-law, A. Maureen and Dr. Walter J. Psoter of Ludlow and Paula and her husband, Michael Paradis of Haverhill; sister, Agnes Cavanaugh, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held Monday, June 16, 2008, in Bradford, MA. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
