BARRIE, Ontario – Harold (Sonny, Boo) Trainor, age 79, passed away peacefully at The Royal Victorian Hospital, Barrie, Ont., on March 6, 2013.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Harry and Colleen (Jamieson) Trainor.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Burlovitch, Barrie; sons, Timothy (Shannon), Arthur, Ont.; and Michael, Barrie; daughter Kathy (Greg) Demings, Mount Thom; brother Gary and sister Colleen (Greer) Turner, both of New Glasgow; and four grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter and two brothers in infancy.
He was inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame; and was well known as a fastball player, catcher and umpire. He was also a member of the Elks Club, New Glasgow, where he loved to meet and spend time with old friends on his visits home to Nova Scotia. A man of few words he was liked and admired by all who knew him.
Funeral services have taken place in Barrie.
