Ernest "Ernie" Hachey

HACHEY, ERNEST “ERNIE” ALBERT - The family of Ernie Hachey of Fredericton, NB are sad to announce his sudden passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 8, 2013 of a cerebral hemorrhage. Born September 19, 1946, he was the son of the late Camille and Rachel (Rickard) Hachey. Ernie worked as a plumber/pipefitter and retired in 2002 from the Provincial Government. He had a great passion for the game of hockey, was a faithful Montreal Canadiens fan, and especially enjoyed his years playing with the Barker’s Point Oldtimers. Ernie was a wonderful family man and since his retirement he has taken great pleasure in following his grandchildren in their sporting activities. He loved the outdoors, the yearly trips to the hunting camp and always enjoyed engaging in ‘long’ chats with friends. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 44+ years, Judy (MacFarlane), his daughter Heather MacMillan (Drew), his son Scott (Tammy), his grandchildren Cole, Zach, Gray and Gabe Hachey and Alex and Katie MacMillan; his brothers David (Lynda) and John (Cathy), and his sister Ann Stafford (Jerry); brother-in-law Bob MacFarlane (Shirley); sister-in-law Maureen Soucie (Wayne); his very special Aunt Phyllis, as well as several other much loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother Frederick.
Cremation has taken place and respecting Ernie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Harvey, Dr. Luntao, and special nursing staff of Cardiac Care at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, and Dr. Larue, Dr. “Harry” and staff of ICU at the Saint John Regional Hospital. For those who wish, the family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice. Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road have been entrusted with arrangements.
