We the family of Annie Louise Nearing announce her passing on March 9, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with family by her side.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Catherine (Budge) White.
She was employed as a housekeeper at the Glace Bay Hospital. Annie was a member of Epworth United Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Annie (Herb) Nash, Glace Bay, Barbara (Terry) Ashford, Glace Bay, Susan, at home; son, Jimmy (Cathy) Gilmet, Glace Bay; sisters, Joyce, Glace Bay, Susie (Jack) Davies, Glace Bay, Tootsie (Bruce) Hudson, Glace Bay, Wilena (Stan) Richards, Sydney Forks; brothers, Fred, Glace Bay, Roy (Carol), Bedford; and also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marge White and Joan and David Fowler; and also nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, James F. Nearing, brother, Malcolm and Aubrey.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St. Glace Bay. Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 12-2 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy White officiating. Burial will be held at later date in Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to make a special thank you to Dr. Kevin McNeil and the nurses at the Glace Bay Hospital, and the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, 3rd floor ICU for their care of our mom.
