Gordon Penny

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, brother and friend, Gordon Penny, on Friday, March 8, 2013, at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in North Sydney, he as the son of the late William and Annie Mae (Hawley) Penny.
Gordon was a well known resident of North Sydney, spending many years working as a cab driver with Jardines Taxi. Prior to his illness, he drove a cab for several years in Antigonish as well. He was an avid sports fan and a former member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
He is survived by his two sons, Gordon and Robert both of Edmonton; his granddaughter, Hannah Grace Penny-MacEachern, Antigonish; his brothers, Ambrose (Nellie), Jack (Claudia), Alex, all of North Sydney; his sister, Sadie ‘Sis’ (Dave) MacPherson, Sydney Mines; and his longtime companion, Marian (Thorne) Logan, Antigonish.
He was predeceased by his brothers, George and Mansel.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service for Gordon will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation in Gordon’s memory.
