Marlene Ann Griffin

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Marlene Ann Griffin, 59, at home on March 6, 2013.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Bernadette McGillivary.
Marlene was employed with Sears Canada in Ontario for several years and moved home to work at Servicemaster. She was a member of the former St. Michael’s Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. Marlene enjoyed bowling at Knox Lanes in Glace Bay and playing bingo at the Army,Navy, Airforce in New Waterford. She also loved to watch golf on television. Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her three grandsons; they were the love of her life.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Patrick ‘Brother’ Griffin; one son, Patrick Daniel, New Waterford; three grandsons, Mitchell, Justin, and Logan and their mother, Shirley; brothers, Donnie (Kay), Alvin, both of New Waterford; sisters, Sally (Howie) Andrews, Sydney, Jacqueline, New Waterford.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Anna and Evelyn.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
