Patricia Gouchie
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Marie Gouchie, 61, of Amherst and formerly of Digby, NS on Thursday March 7, 2013 at the All Saints Hospital in Springhill, NS with her loving family by her side. Born August 22, 1951, Patsy was a daughter of the late Daniel W. and Lavinia “Vennie” (Allen) Gouchie.
Patsy was a people person who loved having her friends and family around and having fun. She opened her home and heart to anyone and everyone in the community. Listening to music and playing cards were the simplicities in life that made her happy but she was most proud of her sons and her grandchildren. Sharing their accomplishments with friends and family filled her with the upmost joy.
Patsy will be lovingly remembered by her beloved sons, Dana (Darlene Melanson) Fillmore, Amherst, Jamie (Angela) Hunter, Moncton, NB, Jeremy (Ashlee Fisher) Hunter, Amherst; adored grandchildren, Ashley, Bryanna, Jaden, Shyla, Bryce, Brayden, and Jackie; brothers, Richard (Diane), Brancroft, ON, Oland (Ellen), Norman, Art (Sheila), and Terry (Joan) all of the Amherst area; Roger (Patsy), Sackville, NB; foster brothers, Michael Irving, Amherst, and Murray Arsenault, Shubenacadie, NS; sisters, Doris Jackson, Edna Gouchie (friend Hanson) both from Amherst, and Nancy Perry (Carman McManaman), Moncton, NB; best friend Melinda (Robert) Berry; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides her parents, Patsy was predeceased by her infant sister, Linda and her brother Carl.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. all at Campbell’s Funeral Home Chapel, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (667-9906). A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst. Memorial donations in Patsy’s memory may be made to Palliative Care or the charity of your choice.
