Violet Bishop
BISHOP, VIOLET - Violet May Bishop, 90, of McNair Manor, 44 Beechwood Ave., formerly of Allison, widow of Vernon S. Bishop (2007), passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 11th, 2013. Born in London, England on October 28th, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Nathan Whitehand and was predeceased by brother Edward (Ted) and sisters Rosemary and Mabel. On leaving school, Violet went to work as a seamstress for a high fashion dress maker in London which began her lifelong love of sewing, knitting, and crafts. As a War Bride, Mum arrived in Canada in January of 1945 settling in Lewisville for 42 years. Violet and Vernon enjoyed many years of summers spent at their cottage as well as trips to England and camping with their motorhome. The greatest love for our Mum was looking after her beloved Vernon and family. She will be sadly missed by son Vernon J. (Mary), Hampton, NB; daughter Barbara (Donald) Clarkin, Allison, NB; grandchildren Mark (Chantal) Bishop, Barrie, ON, Liann Trainer, Hampton, NB; Kristen Clarkin, Moncton, NB and her great grandchildren Shannon, Justin, Kassandra and Kyle. Also surviving are a sister- in-law Joyce Fowler of Ottawa, ON and several nieces and nephews. The family wish to express our deep appreciation for the wonderful care provided to our Mum while she resided at McNair Manor and thank you to the staff of 5100 for keeping her comfortable during her final days.
In honouring Violet’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. In remembrance donations to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or memorial of choice would be appreciated. Following cremation, interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens Field of Honour.
