ENS: Aganetha “Nettie” Ens, age 89, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at5 the Cypress Regional Hospital, after a short illness. Nettie was born on July 31, 1923, in Hochfeld, MB, to Peter & Aganetha Wiebe. She worked in an Old Folks Home in Morden, MB and also in various homes doing household chores. Nettie married Bernhard Ens on November 29, 1959, taking on the responsibility of raising 3 small girls, from Ben’s previous marriage. They farmed in Schoenfeld until their retirement in 1978, when they moved to Swift Current. She enjoyed the farm with the chickens, pigs, cows and the milking. She enjoyed growing flowers and also enjoyed calendars with pictures of kittens on them. After Ben passed away, she continued to live on her own for a number of years, until she was unable to do the outside chores. She then moved to an apartment and later moved to the Prairie Pioneer Lodge. Nettie had a few bouts with cancer in her later years, but came out of her surgeries without needing further treatments. In 2010, she was again in the hospital and the medication she received when she got home, caused severe bleeding that sent her back to the hospital. She then moved to the Palliser Regional Care Centre and had no desire to be on her own again. She never complained about the care she received, but that she had trouble eating. She said the food was too tough for her, she couldn’t chew it. She did love going out for meals and as long as she was able, family took her out. On February 27th, she again was brought to the Hospital by ambulance, again with severe bleeding, and never really found out what the cause was. Because she was so weak, they couldn’t do the tests that they needed to find the cause. On Thursday, March 7th, at 9:10 am, Nettie was taken from the sufferings of this life and into the arms of Jesus, the One that gave His life for her. She had acknowledged this at her baptism. Nettie leaves to mourn her step-children, Tina (Henry) Fehr, Swift Current, SK, Sara (David) Fehr, Swift Current, SK, Marie (Bill) Fehr, La Crete, AB; 13 step-grandchildren; 35 step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews in MB, SK, AB and BC. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter & Aganetha Wiebe; her husband, Bernhard, in 1983; 6 brothers; and by 3 sisters. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 1:30 pm from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, Schoenfeld, SK with Rev. David Wiebe and Rev. Abe Funk officiating. The Interment was held at the Schoenfeld Cemetery, Schoenfeld, SK with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, David Fehr, James Fehr, Frank Fehr, Diedrich Fehr, Daniel Fehr and Andrew Fehr.
