Helen Grace (Doherty) Hamilton, - 63 of Welsford, Kings County, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2013, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born and raised in Black Rock, Kings County, she was the daughter of Evelyn (Coleman) Doherty, Black Rock and the late Donald Doherty. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Victor; her daughters, Julie (Jeff) Thorsen, Hantsport; Kara (Ryan) Logie, Grafton; sister, Janet Dorey, South Alton; brother, Lawrence (Twyla) Doherty, Cambridge; grandchildren, Annika and Kaja Thorsen, Wyatt and Tristan Logie; several nieces and nephews. Helen dedicated all of her 42 years of working life to the Royal Bank, with the majority of time in the Berwick branch. Due to these years of service, she was a familiar face and well known to many in the community, and dearly missed upon her retirement. She was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church and was actively involved in several roles, some of which included: Women’s Auxiliary, Deacons Committee, and Sunday School. Helen was a loving wife, mother, and an extraordinary Nannie. She was a caring, generous, and kind person who was always thinking of and helping others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 in the Berwick Baptist Church, Reverend Marilyn Rose officiating. Interment will take place in the Black Rock Cemetery. A special thank you to VON staff for your compassion and care during her difficult time at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the IWK Health Centre, or to a charity of choice.
