1925-2013
Dorothy Loren Kendall, 87, passed away March 14, 2013 at East Cumberland Lodge Pugwash, where she had received exceptional care for three years. Dorothy was formerly from Amherst and Springhill. She was born July 18, 1925 in Bridgetown NS, the youngest child of Cecil Vanderbilt and Margaret Ann (Scott) Rogers.
In her youth she worked as a hairdresser in Springhill. Dorothy met George Beverley Kendall and they were married and raised three children in Amherst. She loved music and belonged to the Border Belles. Dorothy also bowled with the Amherst Bowling League and participated in a card club with a group of friends. During her 50`s and 60`s Dorothy traveled extensively throughout the USA and Canada.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Beverly (Bill) Kempt of Pugwash, Richard of Amherst and David of Calgary; grandchildren Maylia(Jeff) Parker, Erin (Michael)Sutherland, Brandon (Sarah) MacDonald, Bobby Kendall and Tammy Kendall, eight (8) great grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Beverley; sisters, Margaret, Eva and Etta; brothers, George, Lesley, Cecil and Leonard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring. Donations in Dorothy's memory made to the
East Cumberland Lodge or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
