Oliver James “Bun” Hill - 80, formerly of Canning, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Shannex Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Pereau, he was a son of the late Oliver John and Frances Holland (Baltzer) Hill. He had been employed as a miller for many years, first with Shur-Gain Feeds in Port Williams and later with ACA Mic Mac Feeds Division in Greenwich. He had a great passion for horses and the outdoors. He enjoyed hobby farming, playing his guitar and singing. Oliver was a fine and supportive husband and a proud father. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Elsie Mary Oickle, Kentville; children, Dolena (Howard) Parker, Hall’s Harbour; Susan (Dale) Comeau, Annapolis Royal; Terry (Gail) Hill, Kentville; Donna (Scott) Hill, Middleton; Bonnie (Junior) Phillips, Montreal; Nina (Tony) Hebb, Baxter’s Harbour; Barbara (Reginald) Edwards, Gander, Newfoundland; Sonya Hill, New Minas; brothers, Gene (Jean) Hill, Canard; Donald (Freda) Hill, Centreville; Carl Hill, New Minas; sisters, Maxine Benjamin, Canning; Lavinia (George) Roy, Pereau; 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Vincent Hill; infant grandsons, Andrew and Aaron Hill; a granddaughter, Lisa Phillips; a brother, Alexander Hill; four sisters, Dolena Hill, Rose Viner, Eva Weldon and Mildred Adams. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 825 Park Street, Kentville, Mr. Chris Plant officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Habitant Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to World Wide Bible Education Work, located at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Kentville or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
