James Fillmore

FILLMORE, JAMES - James Colpitts Fillmore born January 22nd, 1933 in New Waterford, Cape Breton, went home to be with his Savior on March 19th, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years Eleanor (Cole) and three daughters Heather (Maurice) Robert of Quispamsis, NB; Nora-Lynn (Terry) Jones of Sussex Corner NB; and Fay (Bill) Best of Lincoln, NB. Also survived by seven grandchildren: Nathalie and Madeleine Robert, Brendan and Cameron Jones, and Aiden, Maria, and Annika Best. He is also survived by his sister Carly Norris and a brother Tom Hargraves. He is predeceased by his adoptive parents Ella (Hargraves) and Colpitts Fillmore, by his natural mother Evelyn (Hargraves) Amero, and by one brother Raymond Fillmore. James loved his wife, children, and grandchildren very much. He enjoyed life to its fullest! He particularly enjoyed spending time at his summer cottage with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, and fishing. Jim was an avid and accomplished hunter, having been rated in the Boon and Crocket Club. James was a long time employee and retiree of the Irving Oil Refinery. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and carving. He was an avid fan and spectator at his grandchildren’s musical and sporting events. This brought him much pleasure. Jim appreciated the members of both his and Eleanor’s small group. 2 Corinthians 4:16 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday, March 21 from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Forest Hills Baptist Church on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Erb’s Cove Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the members of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
