1928 ~ 2013
With much sadness we announce that Gerry passed away on March 5, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sechelt. He is survived by two daughters, Erica and Heather, his son-in-law Giorgio, and three grandsons, Kyle, Max and Finnegan.
Gerry grew up in Cumberland, BC but spent most of his adult life living in Richmond and working as an electrical engineer. He was new to the Sunshine Coast but with his outgoing personality, his youthful spirit and his great sense of humour, he made many new friends and will be missed very much.
Those who knew Gerry will remember his passion for knowledge as he always had many mathematical and philosophical books on the go. Over the years, he enjoyed many other pursuits such as fishing, hunting, camping, trapshooting, photography and writing.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mentz for his medical care and kindness and all those at St. Mary’s who took good care of Gerry.
At Gerry’s request a cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place in Roberts Creek on April 7, 2013 from 1 to 3 pm. If you would like to attend, please contact Heather at gatz2011@live.com
