Mary Lou Goodwin

The death of Mary Lou Goodwin age 62, of Southampton, NS occurred peacefully while surrounded by her beloved family on Tuesday morning, March 19, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born April 29, 1950 in Springhill, NS, Mary Lou was a daughter of the late Garnet Ray and Ruth Hazel (Knight) Black.
Mary Lou worked for Goodwin’s Super Market, Victoria Manor, Birds Retirement Home and Wal Mart.
Her special love for animals, especially dogs, led her to volunteering at the L.A. Animal Shelter for a period of time.
Mary Lou truly and deeply cared for her family and friends, and assisted in any way possible during their needs.
She had a great passion for writing poetry, taking long walks and always was proud to be living in the country.
Mary Lou was a wonderful wife, mum, grandmother, friend and will be missed and never forgotten by all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Angela (Kenny) Gallagher, Maccan; special grandson, Titus; sisters, Diane Debaie, Little River, Albert Co., NB, Judy (Ken) Webb, Toronto, ON and Marilyn (Joe) Winters, Liverpool, NS; brothers, Arthur (Diane), Kentville, NS, John (Debbie), Sackville, NB and Robin (Kelly), Amherst; brother in law, Alec Lusby, Amherst as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts and extended family.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her sister, Cindy Lusby.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Mapleton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Lou’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Liver Foundation, Chron’s Colitis Society, SPCA of your choice or charity of your choice.
