Thorleif Moen a great uncle and friend, left us Monday March 11 to be with his Lord. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen; parents Jorgen & Marie Moen, sisters Agnes Kerr, Andrea Kerr, Sophie Kerr, Inga Merrett and Gladys Sakstad; his in-laws Mr. & Mrs. George Harty and many brother and sister in-laws. He leaves to cherish his memory Brother's in law Per (Bernice) Sakstad, Gordon Harty, George Harty. Sister's in law Helen Kleisinger, Dorothy Bonnell and Henriette Harty. As well as many nieces and nephews. Thorleif was born in Risor Norway December 10th 1913 and came to Canada at the age of 6 to their farm 10 miles south of Gull Lake. He farmed with his father many years and eventually on his own. October 27, 1938 he married Kathleen Harty and they enjoyed 70 years together. Thorleif’s hobbies were fishing, curling and traveling. Thorlief and Kathleen moved into their new home in Gull Lake in 1974. Thorleif worked for Marshall Cutting at the Esso. Managed the Curling rink for many winters. Spent a few summers Caretaking Antelope Lake Park. He was a handyman and unafraid of taking on any job. Thorleif and Kathleen enjoyed many bus trips, some of which included California, New York, Nashville, New Jersey, and the Maritimes. Thorleif was a life time member of the United Church. He moved to Autumn House June 2012 We were able to celebrate his 99th birthday with him. Our sincere thanks to Autumn House Staff. Dr. Clare Kozroski and United Church Minister Bev Diduck and many friends for their kindness and care for him. His funeral will be March 21, 2013 at (1:00 P. M.) at the Gull Lake United church.
