D. Marlene Mason
D. Marlene Mason, 66 of Stellarton, passed away after a nine year battle with Breast Cancer on March 20, 2013 at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of William “Bill” Rector and the late Nora (MacDonald) Rector.
After completing a business course at East Pictou High School, she began her working career at the Nova Scotia Hospital in Dartmouth, then Beneficial Finance in New Glasgow and Kentville. She retired in 1999 after 27 years with the Bank of Nova Scotia. Marlene enjoyed many summers with her family, friends and chosen son Cameron at Harbour Lights Campground.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years Ron “Randy” Mason, Stellarton; a son Jamie, Grande Prairie and Hilden; a daughter Shari (Rick) Easthope, Calgary; and precious grandsons Shea and Cooper Easthope.
Besides her father Bill Rector, she is survived by sisters: Lois Dunbar, New Glasgow; Judy (Ivan) Richard, Plymouth; Karen (Ken) Barkhouse, Granton; Debbie Rector, Priestville; Chrissie (Mike) Brandt, Stellarton; chosen sister, Cheryl Cross, Priestville; brothers, Bill (Bernadette), Priestville; Ronnie, Stellarton; special uncles Ken (Shirley) MacDonald, New Glasgow; Ronnie (Lois) MacDonald, Ontario; special aunts: Vivian (Fred) Wright and Eva (Lawrence) Richards, both of Dartmouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother Nora (MacDonald) Rector, a brother Bobby, step-mother Grace (Goodwin) Rector.
Cremation to take place.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Marlene may be made to the VON or the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital.
