Dorothy Bernice Jordan

JORDAN, Dorothy Bernice – 89, McCaul Villa, Great Village, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday evening, March 19, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born September 19, 1923, in Surrey, Albert County, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Nancy (Wells) Bannister. Dorothy enjoyed listening to country music, doing jigsaw puzzles and trying her luck with scratch tickets. She loved her family and devoted her life to them. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Marguerite Gregory (Wendell Rushton), Lower Truro; Phyllis Rushton, Great Village; Paulette (Allen) Rushton, Vanastra, Ontario; Darlene Jordan (Wyman Little), Great Village; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice (Harold) Trites, Pine Glen, New Brunswick; brothers, James Bannister, Henry Bannister, Lewis (Geraldine) Bannister, John (Louise) Bannister, al of Pine Glen, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Randall Jordan; daughter, Linda Diane Jordan in infancy; sons, John Randall Jordan in infancy; Donald Jordan, Gary Jordan; sister, Myrtle Smith, Helen Bishop, Ethel Bishop; great-great granddaughters, Taylor Williams, Molly Hill. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Dorothy’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2013, Reverend Gary MacDougall officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Folly Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Dorothy’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice are welcomed.
