It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Emily Morrison, who had been a resident of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the past year and formerly of St. George’s Channel on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at St. Martha’s Hospital.
Born in Cape George, Richmond Co., she was the daughter of the late William and Dolena Murray.
She later met and married our father, Ralph MacInnis (deceased) and worked beside him on the farm for many years. She worked as the post master in her own home for several years.
She later married Robert ‘Bobby’ Morrison (deceased). Throughout their many years, they loved to travel and especially go dancing within the community. Our mom also had a passion for knitting, especially dishcloths which she shared with so many and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Emily is survived by her daughters, Helen Gould (John), Florence Thomas (Allan Farrell), Catherine Dorton (Danny Boudreau) and her three grandchildren, whom she loved very much, Heidi Gould, Courtney Dorton, Kirk Dorton; brother, Leo Murray (Catherine) and sisters, Shirley Embree (Sam), Hughina Moses (Brian); sisters-in-law, Carmelita Landry (Blair), Connie Murray (Wayne) and Mary Ann Monnon (Ernest). She also had many nieces and nephews; special nephew, Frankie Murray.
Predeceased by baby sister, Levina; brothers, Ralph and Harvey Murray; brothers-in-law, John Morrison (Dolly) and Duncan MacInnis and sisters-in-law, Rena MacDonald (Sandy), Catherine Jackson (Len), Helen MacInnis and Florence MacKillop (Hughie); Barb MacInnis.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for their kindness to our mother during her stay.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s. Wake will be in River Bourgeois on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Feb. 8, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in Black River United Church.
