REDMOND, Garry James – 63, Hilden, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, March 22, 2013, at home. Born April 5, 1949, in River John, he was a son of Louise (Redmond) Cruikshank, Mississauga, Ontario. Garry worked in the Environmental Services Department for 30 years at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Along with his mother, Garry is survived by his common-law wife, Helen (Cail) Moore; son, Thomas Redmond, Truro; step-daughters, Kim (Chris) Mansfield, Truro; Dawn (Sterling) Ellingwood, Alberta; four step-grandchildren; seven siblings; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, George and Velda Redmond. Garry’s family would like to thank family doctor, Dr. Don Pugsley; Palliative Care staff, Dr. David Henderson, Dr. Cortney Smith, Sue Gibbon and nurses and to the VON. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Garry’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013, Reverend Jay Ettinger officiating.
